BIO

Florent Devos is an international performing jazz guitarist and teacher in the gypsy swing style. His career has taken him across Asia, Europe and Australia, performing with various ensembles and styles both as a sideman and bandleader.Born in Villeneuve-D'Ascq in northern France, Florent started his musical journey with classical piano at age twelve before becoming captivated by the guitar at fourteen. Classical piano studies soon made way for the psychedelic blues of Jimi Hendrix, the tight funk groove of John Frusciante and the swinging boogie of Chuck Berry.After graduating from JMI with a Bachelor of Jazz performance, Florent continued to hone his craft, bringing together his French heritage and passion for the hot acoustic swing of Django Reinhardt. The result is that Florent has formed a unique fingerprint on the music. His playing is vibrant, fueled by energetic swing, embued with melodic intent, improvisational artistry and sensitivity.In addition to maintaining a busy teaching and performing schedule, Florent is currently in preproduction on a new solo album project featuring original compositions and arrangements of gypsy jazz standards.
